HOORAY!! Consultant rang at 6pm to say that this mornings bloods have shown further improvement. ALT 124 AST 70. He said I could reduce the pred to 40mg from tomorrow, have a good weekend and he'll see me Monday!Nearly  died when he started by saying "I've had a look at your results from today"....couldn't believe it was good news.Feeling so much better knowing the results tonight rather than the usual build up to Monday afternoon.
Also had a phone consult with the RCN as planned today. We have some ideas/plans/suggestions to put to the Trust for the meeting on 25th, so feel better about that too. Actually really love my job and need to find a way of keeping it if at all possible.
Still lots of physical stuff going on, but the end may be in sight now.
Colleen, great news about your work! You made it, and enjoyed it! So sorry that you have had to pay for it by being so unwell. But as you say, maybe this is just how its going to be. Get some rest before you do it all again next week!! x

  2. Hi Penny, I am so pleased for you, at last!! Now, don't go overdoing it as the steroids still need to do their work and that will take it out of you a bit. I haven't been online for a few days as I have been working in my cousin's chocolate shop which is a lovely place to work and I come home smelling of chocolate! Totally exhausted today though, with sicky headache. A year ago,I would have struggled with just one day so good really and positive for you all.
Have a lovely weekend enjoying the sunshine and the fact that you are recovering well. Such good news!! I hope the work meeting goes well for you as well. Good that they are actually doing something for you and let's hope that you will soon be back.

  3. Hi Penny.
I've just got back online hence the delayed reply.
My apt was at 3.40 today. Numbers have not changed at all so more steroids again grrr. I asked for an increase in the aza instead but was told my dose of 125mg is quite high for my weight so they didn't want to put me at risk for side effects.
Bit bummed really as the steroids normally work quite well. They suggested maybe trying Budesonide until I reminded them that the last time they did that my numbers went crazy...read my notes damn it!!!
How are you any way? hope you got some good news? cant believe I missed you by 30 mins we must have been in the waiting room together.??

    1. Hi Emma! Unbelieable we missed each other!! Sorry to hear about your numbers. I saw Dr Warshow again, he's been seeing me regularly recently, but next week it will be Aileen Smith . Thank god you know what the drugs do to you..........very worrying that they nearly made that mistake with the budesonide. You goota go again next week? x

They wanted to see me next week but I put it off till the following Monday as I've got an important meeting next Monday that couldn't be changed. I had more bloods done to and get the results tomorrow.
Its all getting a bit frustrating now. Would be nice to have a break from hospital. xx
